The work “The Place Setting” from 1924 is part of a series of works and shows an abstracted table still life \u2013 the contours of glass and napkin are recognizable \u2013 however, the artist completely transforms his initial motif into geometric forms. The three-dimensional spatial design is completely abandoned; the foreground and background of the picture consist of monochrome color surfaces and merge into a construct traversed by lines. The many triangular shapes, which give the picture a great dynamic, are striking. <\/p>\n\n
The work is kept in various shades of gray, to which the artist adds a light yellow as well as black and white.
