The work “Das Gedeck” from 1924 is part of a series in which the artist repeatedly takes up the same motif: Here, too, the artist depicts the eponymous setting \u2013 recognizable are glass, bottle and napkin \u2013 whereby he transfers the objects into geometric forms. Here, Evard chooses delicate shades of pink, which are supported in the lower part of the picture by deeper shades of brown. The background is formed by a star-shaped figure in purple. The artist experiments here with the serial principle: both the glass and the angular element in the left, lower area of the picture are shown tripled, with the elements tapering towards the back. The fan shape is also taken up twice.
