This untitled oil painting from 1928 is closely related to the Gedeck series and the Komposition (kristallin) series. In numerous variations, Evard takes up the motif of the set table \u2013 recognizable here by glasses, bottles, and napkins \u2013 and transforms it into a complex interplay of geometric forms. This work is rendered in pastel shades: we find the pink, yellow, and mint green so characteristic of Evard. The painter designs the background in a monochrome light blue. The composition has now taken on a mosaic-like character, with its small-scale color fields. At the edges of the napkins, Evard begins to repeat a pattern, which is remotely reminiscent of the ornamental design in his Art Nouveau works.
