A Swiss Modernist Painter

André Evard’s last work from 1971 shows a fascinating, diffuse play of light over a mountain landscape in the colors pink, light blue, yellow, and light green – the artist’s favorite colors. The colors are applied with a light, dynamic brushstroke, so that they appear almost ethereal in their coloring and movement. Fittingly, Evard creates a huge cross in yellow and white in the center of the picture. The triangular mountain peaks lose sharpness in this composition and remain stuck in the background.

In his last painting, André Evard succeeded in creating a mystical-symbolic mood that not only fascinates the viewer, but also makes them thoughtful.
