Tree with Blossoms, n.d., Enamel, 10 x 7 cm

Tree with Blossoms, Enamel, N.D.

André Evard’s enamel painting “Blossoming Tree,” measuring approximately 10 x 7 cm and dating from the 1910s, depicts a centrally positioned tree in full bloom. The composition is symmetrically structured: a reddish-brown trunk branches into a dense, round crown of lush, dark green foliage. The foliage is composed of small, almost pointillistically applied patches of color, lending a dynamic texture to the motif. Among these, numerous pink blossom points radiate, spreading like delicate light reflections across the entire foliage. The dark, almost violet-blue background effectively contrasts with the luminous green and pink of the tree, creating a deep, atmospheric spatial effect. The enamel technique intensifies the vibrancy of the colors and imparts a glassy, lustrous surface to the work. Evard’s work here demonstrates his close connection to nature and his ability to translate it into luminous color fields in an abstracted, almost impressionistic manner.
