A Swiss Modernist Painter

Sunset with Fir Tree, 1965, oil on hardboard, 25 x 40 cm

Sunset with Fir Tree, 1965

The painting depicts the same section of a landscape as the painting Spring over the Hills, which is also for sale in the exhibition. In the center of the painting, two hills can be seen, which are brought into focus by the coloring of the clouds. A tree stump on the left and a fir tree on the right serve as a frame for this breathtaking spectacle. In an expressionistic manner, Evard manages to convey a feeling of comfort here. The shape of the circle suggested by the clouds gives the viewer a feeling of wholeness. The moment is perfect. One has the impression of having arrived at the destination of an individual journey.
