Evard frequently engages with the motif of the peony. The lovely flower usually only lasts a few days in the vase and is considered particularly desirable due to its delicacy and fullness. The fragility of this flower is thematized on several levels in this white-pastel work. Firstly, in the reduced and discreet coloring, but also in the restrained contouring, which allows the individual elements to almost merge with the background. With this minimalism, Evard creates a form of abstraction that differs from constructivism.
