Cette aquarelle de petit format datant de 1948 repr\u00e9sente des coquelicots rouges dans un vase. Le regard du spectateur est imm\u00e9diatement attir\u00e9 par le rouge \u00e9clatant des fleurs. Le coquelicot poss\u00e8de une signification symbolique multiple : c\u2019est la fleur du souvenir, de la comm\u00e9moration et de la paix, mais elle repr\u00e9sente \u00e9galement le sommeil et la mort.
\nPar sa couleur rouge, elle incarne aussi l\u2019amour et la passion. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la conception sobre de l\u2019arri\u00e8re-plan \u2014 Evard choisit un fond blanc et sugg\u00e8re un plateau de table jaune en bas par une forme semi-circulaire \u2014 l\u2019artiste fait ici de cette fleur complexe et fragile la protagoniste du tableau.
\nLe spectateur peut s\u2019immerger dans ce rouge qui occupe tout l\u2019espace.
\nEn 1948, Andr\u00e9 Evard a peint de plus en plus de natures mortes florales de petit format \u00e0 l\u2019aquarelle, car il cherchait, durant cette phase, un retour \u00e0 des motifs intimes et concentr\u00e9s. Apr\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es turbulentes de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il s\u2019est tourn\u00e9 vers des formats plus r\u00e9duits, pouvant \u00eatre r\u00e9alis\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re plus rapide, spontan\u00e9e et nuanc\u00e9e en termes de couleurs.
\nDe plus, l\u2019aquarelle lui permettait d\u2019exp\u00e9rimenter la transparence et la l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 \u2014 les motifs floraux s\u2019y pr\u00eataient id\u00e9alement, car ils autorisaient des structures organiques et des couleurs sous une forme compacte et compos\u00e9e. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
