Woman in a Flower Field, 1912

Entirely in an Art Nouveau style, the portrait of a woman stands symmetrically in the center of the image. Her equally symmetrical facial features, as well as the uniform floral pattern in the background, symbolize a clear order. Perfection and completeness are the focus. In front of her chest, the woman holds a glowing orb. It appears to radiate from within. This radiance competes with the woman’s nimbus. Behind her light orange hair is a white, finely dotted circle, which is surrounded by similar orbs. The contour of her nimbus thus organically merges into the floral background. The woman’s gentle facial expression is harmoniously emphasized by the delicate color palette in pastel tones. The colors of the flowers are also reflected in the pattern on her clothing. Evard has created a serene and light-filled portrait here.
