Fruit Harvest, 1917

This orchard is idyllically presented in autumnal colors. Red-brown leaves surround the valuable fruits of the tree. However, these are not safe from the hands of the pickers. Two people – one in the foreground and one in the background – stand in long, dark orange robes between the fruit trees. The person in the foreground elegantly manages to pull a branch towards themself and place the picked, spherical fruits in a basket. Small, white animals fly around the two figures. They create a dynamic lightness in the picture and reinforce the depth effect towards the person standing in the background.
Evard creates a harmonious atmosphere here, which draws the viewer into the cozy mood of late summer.
