A Swiss Modernist Painter

House with Tree, 1906, watercolor on paper, 51.5 x 41 cm (framed), 13.5 x 8.2 cm (unframed)

House with Tree, 1906

This is a small-format landscape depiction. The lower area is occupied by a brown field, a small grove, and a single house. The trees stand out due to their vibrant colors; however, they already show clear signs of autumn. The upper part of the depiction is entirely occupied by the sky, which is rendered in a washed-out, neutral light blue, with no clouds visible.
The work belongs to Evard’s early figurative phase. It was signed by Evard with a monogram in the lower right corner.
