This landscape depiction by Evard shows an unusual deviation from the style of his landscape depictions. Normally, these are devoid of people – here, however, we see a small, crouching figure on the left.
The vegetation illuminated by the sun and the vastness of the mountains in the background convey a feeling of cheerfulness and lightness to the viewer, which is further enhanced by the birds fluttering around.
Inevitably, one is reminded of Italian landscape depictions, such as the watercolours from the Italian journey of the German architect Friedrich August Stüler, or the oil paintings of the architect Leo von Klenze.
