Heat Lightning, 1961

In this oil painting from 1961, Evard uses his favorite colors to depict heat lightning: we find a strong yellow, pink, and green. The painting shows a highly abstracted, distant mountain range, above which the imposing weather phenomenon takes place. The interplay of the powerful colors, which Evard effectively sets in sharp contrast to the black of the night, is particularly spectacular here. Evard works here in an expressionistic manner and creates an atmospheric landscape full of force and energy: the power of the colors seems to be the actual protagonist of this landscape painting.
